The Vocational Community: «This
branch of the community consists of unmarried or
widowed men who are called to live in Community
according to the three evangelical counsels:
poverty, chastity and obedience»(art. 35º, Constitutions). «Its
aim is the cultivation and experience of a
private vocation of self offering to God:
priesthood, religious life, apostolate, life of
prayer, study and retreat» (art. 36º, Ibid.).
Those who feel called to the consecrated life
belong to this branch; and those who, after
proper discernment, offer themselves to become
priests, as well as those who are already
consecrated to God according to the three
evangelical counsels, such as the brethren of
other religious congregations. The last live in
prayer and work according to the Constitutions.
The former, particularly the seminarians, live
in the House of Formation of El Escorial,
authorized by the Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid,
where they study and live. They attend the
Theological Faculty «San Dámaso» daily. During
their holiday periods they complete their
formation by participating in the different
works of the
Public Association of Faithful Repairers.

At present, the Vocational Community has 25
members; 7 of them are seminarians. Of the
eight priests connected with the Work of the
Virgin of El Escorial, two are chaplains of the
Public
Association of Faithful «Repairers of Our Lady
of Sorrows», named by the current Cardinal
of Madrid, D. Antonio María Rouco Varela. Their
mission is to monitor the fidelity of this
Institution to the Church, and to contribute to
the achievement of the aim of
the Public
Association: the sanctification of its
members and the expansion of the Kingdom of
Christ inside the Church and with its approval.
The other priests serve several parishes and
hospital chaplaincies and the like,
collaborating with other priests in diocesan
activities.
At least twenty priests are known to consider
their vocation to have been born
in this place of
blessings; it is impossible to give the exact
number, so regular are reports made of persons
who believe that their priestly vocational call
was associated with this place of pilgrimage.
It should be noted too that from the
Public
Association of Faithful Repairers other
young people (boys and girls) have also been
called to live the religious life in different
diocesan and religious institutions.
