The Work of the Virgin of El Escorial.
The institutions established canonically and civilly at the request of Luz Amparo are known as «The Work of the Virgin of El Escorial».

The symbolic date of this ecclesiastic reality is June 14th 1981, when the Virgin of the Sorrows appeared to Luz Amparo for the first time at Prado Nuevo. However, in November 1980 she had had other encounter with the Lord, who had announced her the mission which she had been chosen for.  Nowadays, these private revelations are being studied by the Archbishopric of Madrid.  The Cardinal will give a final judgment on these facts if he considers it appropriate at the right moment.  On the other hand, the fruits are evident and they have been recognized for the Church:

On June 14th 1994, in the 13º anniversary of the first apparition, the previous Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, D. Angel Suquía and Goicoechea (†), establishes canonically the Public Association of  the Faithful «Repairers of Our Lady the Virgin of Sorrows» and the Pious Foundation «Virgin of Sorrows», and approves its Constitutions.  The Public Association of the Faithful Repairers has three branches: Repairing Sisters (previously approved on May 14, 1993, as Private Association of the Faithful Repairers), Family Community and Vocational Community.

The Pious Foundation «Virgin of Sorrows» has two main aims: the apostolate and the spiritual attention of those to whom its work is directed, «all in accordance with the Doctrine of the Catholic Church; likewise, it will be able to carry out as many charitable or social actions as necessary for the achievement of their aims, inside their Christian inspiration» (Constitutions, art. 2º).

The Public Association of the Faithful «Repairers of Our Lady the Virgin of Sorrows», is an Institution canonically established by the Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, D. Angel Suquía and Goicoechea (†), on June 14, 1994.

As Association, it is a group of people that unite to achieve an aim.  The rules governing its work are in the Constitutions; and these —as it is a religious Institution— have been approved by the Hierarchy of the Church.

Its purpose is «the sanctification of its members by living in community, as much as possible, as the first Christians did, under the motto LOVE, UNION AND PEACE.  Because of this,  they will have special interest in the service to the poor and needy, seeing Christ The Redeemer in them, in intimate relation with the Virgin, especially under the name «Virgin of Sorrows», and  always willing to cooperate with the Catholic Church in Its activities» (Constitutions, art. 3º).  «To achieve this aim in the most perfect way, the members of the Association will pay an appropriate attention to their spiritual life, trying to get a deep and complete professional and doctrinal formation» (Íbid., art. 4º).

The members of the Association carry out different tasks everyday, according to the needs of the Work, out of the Community as well as inside. To favor the living and to cover the needs of the members of the Work and to collaborate with the attention to the residences that are open, they perform a variety of manual works such as bricklaying, carpentry, gardening, etc.

They also help some NGO's with charitable aims and they provide eating aid to different institutions and not a few religious communities.  Without forgetting the habitual contribution to the Diocesan Church in any type of task that may be requested, especially acts or events of ecclesiastic character, where they usually take part, putting in practice what it has been aid above in their own Constitutions (see the art. 3º).

The Public Association of the Faithful has three branches: «Repairing Sisters, Family Community and Vocational Community».

In a first moment, for the spiritual attention of the members, Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, D. Angel Suquía and Goicoechea, on July 21st 1994, named D. José Arranz Arranz as chaplain.

Antonio Astilleros, Vicar of the Zone, and D.
